The Free Democratic Party (FDP) is a liberal political party in Germany. Founded in 1948, it advocates for classical liberal policies and emphasizes the rights and freedoms of individuals. It holds views on economic liberalism, supporting free-market economics and private enterprise, and is also known for supporting civil liberties, human rights, and internationalism. The FDP is often considered the kingmaker of German politics, having been part of the federal government more often than any other party and often forming a coalition with either the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) or the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). The party's color is yellow, and it uses the cornflower as its symbol.
