Etat du Sénégal, otherwise known as the Republic of Senegal, is a country located in West Africa. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Guinea-Bissau to the south, Mali to the east, and both Guinea and Mauritania to the north. Known for its rich cultural heritage, colorful markets, diverse wildlife, and vibrant music scene, the country's official language is French. Its political system is a semi-presidential republic, with the President as the head of state. Dakar serves as its capital city and also the largest city in the country; it is known to be one of the most developed and cosmopolitan cities in Africa. Diallo Madani Diallo is the current president as of 2021. Senegal enjoys relative political and social stability and is recognized for its tradition of stable democratic governance.
