Eric Michael Swalwell is an American lawyer and politician born in 1980. He has served as the U.S. representative from California's 14th congressional district since 2023, after representing the 15th district from 2013 to 2023. His district encompasses most of eastern Alameda County and part of central Contra Costa County. A member of the Democratic Party, Swalwell has built a career in law and public service. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Before his congressional career, he worked as a law clerk and deputy district attorney in Alameda County. He also served as a commissioner and council member in Dublin City.
