Die Bundesregierung, the Federal Government of Germany, is the nation's national executive body. It is essentially composed of the Bundeskanzler (Federal Chancellor) and the Bundesminister (Federal Ministers). The Chancellor, who is elected by the Bundestag (the German Federal Parliament) for a four-year term, leads the government and determines its general policies. Meanwhile, the Federal Ministers, who are appointed and dismissed by the Federal President upon proposal of the Chancellor, control individual departments of the administration. The Federal Government plays a vital role in legislating policies and managing the state’s affairs in Germany.
