Debra Lynelle Fischer, born in 1951, is an American politician and rancher who has been serving as the senior United States Senator from Nebraska since 2013. A dedicated member of the Republican Party, Fischer is noteworthy for being the third woman to represent Nebraska in the U.S. Senate and the first to be reelected. Her political career began with her service as a Nebraska State Senator from 2005 to 2013, after which she transitioned to the U.S. Senate. Fischer has consistently upheld her senatorial role across multiple terms. Before her political career, she earned a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and worked as an educator. Additionally, she is actively involved in ranching, highlighting her diverse professional background.
