Congreso Nacional de Chile

The Congreso Nacional de Chile, or the National Congress of Chile, is the legislative branch of the government of Chile. Located in the port city of Valparaiso, about 140 kilometres west of the country's capital, Santiago, the neoclassical building houses both the upper and lower houses of parliament - the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. The Congress creates and approves laws, supervises governmental operations, and carries a significant weight in the country's political system.
