CONAFOR

CONAFOR, an acronym for La Comisión Nacional Forestal, is Mexico's National Forestry Commission. Its primary role is to develop, support and promote activities and policies for the conservation, restoration, and sustainable management of the country's forests. The agency is responsible for developing programs to combat deforestation, forest fires, pests, and diseases affecting trees. CONAFOR also contributes to Mexico's efforts to fight climate change, acknowledges the importance of forests for livelihoods, biodiversity and water cycles, and emphasizes the participatory role of local communities in forest management.
