Commission européenne

The Commission européenne, best known as the European Commission, is an institution of paramount importance within the European Union (EU). It plays a critical role as it proposes EU-wide laws and policy, monitors their proper implementation by member states, and oversees the EU's budget and expenditure. It also represents the EU internationally, conducting negotiations on its behalf, such as in areas like trade policy. The Commission is led by a team of commissioners, one from each EU country, and operates independently of national governments.
