Brian Emanuel Schatz is an American politician and the current senior United States Senator from Hawaii, serving since 2012. He is a member of the Democratic Party and assumed office after the passing of Senator Daniel Inouye. Prior to his tenure in the Senate, Schatz served as Lieutenant Governor of Hawaii from 2010 to 2012. His political focus includes climate change, healthcare, and affordable education. As a senator, he’s known for promoting clean energy, protecting the environment, and fighting for middle-class families. He currently serves on the Appropriations Committee, the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, as well as the Indian Affairs Committee and the Select Committee on Ethics.
