William Richard Keating, born in 1952, is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Massachusetts's 9th congressional district since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, he entered Congress in 2011, initially representing Massachusetts's 10th district until redistricting. His district covers Cape Cod and much of the South Coast. Keating has been a prominent advocate for criminal justice reform, having served in the Massachusetts General Court from 1977 to 1999. He worked as the district attorney of Norfolk County for three terms before his congressional career. Keating holds an MBA and a Bachelor's degree from Boston College and a JD from Suffolk University Law School. He also worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service.
