Bayerischer Landtag

The Bayerischer Landtag (Bavarian Parliament) serves as the state parliament of Bavaria, the largest federal state in Germany. Located in the Bavarian capital of Munich, it holds legislative authority alongside the Bavarian State Government. The parliament comprises two chambers: the Landtag, or lower house, and the Senate, or upper house. Members of the parliament are elected through general, equal, direct, free, and secret ballots. As of 2018, the number of seats in the Landtag was set at 180, with members serving five-year terms. The Bayerischer Landtag works to shape Bavarian state laws, scrutinise the government, and represent the citizens of Bavaria.
