Andy Kim is an American politician and diplomat born in 1982, currently serving as the junior United States Senator from New Jersey, a position he has held since 2024. A dedicated member of the Democratic Party, he represented New Jersey's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2019 to 2024, where he focused on issues affecting Philadelphia’s eastern suburbs as well as southern and central New Jersey. Before entering Congress, Kim worked in the U.S. State Department, showcasing his commitment to public service. Academically, Kim holds a Doctorate in International Relations from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor's in Political Science from the University of Chicago. His previous roles include Director for Iraq at the National Security Council and strategic advisor to Generals David Petraeus and John Allen.
