André D. Carson, born in 1974, is an American politician and a member of the Democratic Party. He has served as the U.S. Representative for Indiana's 7th congressional district since 2008, a district that encompasses the majority of Indianapolis, including its downtown area. Carson has been the dean of Indiana's congressional delegation since 2021, following the retirement of Representative Pete Visclosky. His extensive career in public service includes roles such as a law enforcement officer at the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and a councilmember at the Indianapolis Marion City Council. Carson holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Management from Concordia University and an MBA in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University.
