Alcaldía Mayor de Bogotá serves as the city hall for Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia. As the principal administrative institution, its jurisdiction spans across the city’s 20 localities. The primary role of the Alcaldía Mayor, or Mayoralty, is to govern all district-wide public affairs - from urban development and public services to education and safety. It is presided over by the Mayor of Bogotá, who is elected through popular vote and serves a four-year term. The institution plays a key role in framing public policy, managing resources and driving development efforts to promote the city's growth and overall wellbeing of its inhabitants.
