Alabama State Senate

The Alabama State Senate is the upper house of the Alabama Legislature, the state government's legislative branch. Composed of 35 districts, each represented by one senator, it is responsible for making and passing laws for the state. Members of the senate serve four-year terms and the person elected to represent the district is decided through popular vote. In its operational capacity, the Alabama State Senate has jurisdiction over budget allocations, approval of gubernatorial appointments, and initiating legislation that alters the state constitution.
