Aftab Karma Singh Pureval is an influential American attorney and politician who has served as the 70th mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio, since January 4, 2022. As a member of the Democratic Party, Pureval made history as the first Asian American elected as Cincinnati's mayor, securing 65.8% of the vote on November 2, 2021. Born to a diverse background, he pursued higher education at The Ohio State University, earning a Bachelor's degree, and later obtained a Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati. His professional journey includes roles as an associate at White and Case, summer associate at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, and counsel for Global Beauty Care at Procter & Gamble, where he also served as the Global Brand Attorney for Olay. Prior to being mayor, he was the Clerk of Courts in Hamilton County and ran for Ohio's 1st congressional district in 2018.
