🚨 STOP POLICE FAMILIES EVICTIONS🚨

The recent decision by Surrey Police to proceed with evictions of police families from their homes has caused considerable concern and distress. These families, who have dedicated their lives to protecting and serving the community, are now facing the severe threat of losing their homes. This situation not only disrupts their lives but also undermines their morale and ability to serve the public effectively.

They have been given just 12 weeks to find somewhere else to live or risk homelessness or emergency accommodation. This is despite the new legislation being brought in to stop so called ‘no fault’ evictions and despite being told less than 18 months ago that this was THEIR HOME for as long as they wanted or needed it. They even adapted and refurbished properties to meet the tenants needs and personal tastes including one tenant who needed a walk in shower due to ill health.

Some families have children in local schools or starting school this year, some have children with special needs or health issues, some are battling serious health conditions themselves and some have babies due soon.

Surrey Police officers and staff are vital to the safety and security of our region. They commit countless hours to ensuring peace and public safety, and their families make significant sacrifices as a result. The evictions of these families from their homes is not only unfair but also socially and ethically wrong. They deserve stability and security in their living conditions, especially given the challenges they face in their line of work.

Moreover, relocating dozens of families can have negative ripple effects on the community. It causes disruption in schooling for children, breaks community ties, and adds financial strain on already hard-working families. The mental and emotional toll on officers and their families can affect their job performance, leading to possible risks in service delivery to the community.

It's essential that Surrey Police and the PCC re-evaluate their decision and consider the long-term implications for their staff and the broader community.

Pausing the evictions now would allow for a thorough review and re-negotiation of terms, ensuring that families are treated with the compassion and respect they deserve. This pause gives space for dialogue and finding a more suitable solution that acknowledges and honours the dedication of our police officers.

Support the hard-working police families by signing this petition to halt evictions immediately. Let’s urge Surrey Police leaders to reconsider their actions and work towards a fair and humane resolution.

Please sign and share this petition to help protect these families and ensure they have a secure future.
