The issue

Tucker and Lido, two beloved family dogs, were healthy and happy until they ate a Bow Wow pet treat sold by the multi-billion dollar corporate giant Woolworths. Almost instantly, both dogs became critically ill and required costly surgery with slim survival chances. Through a miraculous turn of events, both dogs survived their ordeals, but the emotional and financial toll on their owners was enormous. Yet, both Woolworths and Bow Wow Gourmet Pet Treats (Nova Concepts) have turned a deaf ear to the owners' pleas for nationwide product recall, financial compensation. Alarmingly, these deadly pet treats are also stocked by Coles and IGA supermarkets and Woolworth's subsidiary Big W.

Lido's best friends saying what they thought was their final goodbye

Despite veterinary surgeons producing conclusive evidence of a direct link between the product and both dogs' near-death experiences and links to countless other identical incidents, these companies ignore victims, and these dangerous pet treats continue to be stocked on supermarket shelves across Australia, causing emotional distress and financial hardship to even more dog owners. Tens of thousands of dollars have been spent on vet bills, a substantial burden for families who just wanted to treat their pets.

It is inexcusable that despite the pleadings from so many victims, Woolworths and Bow Wow Pet Treats choose to prioritise sales targets and KPIs over the health and safety of our beloved pets. Pet owners know we can't put a price on the love we have for our furry family members. However, Woolworths and Bow Wow can, and that amount is a measly $8! That is the price they sell these death treats for while ignoring the countless warnings urging them to remove the products from sale.

Woolworths and Bow Wow ignore a chorus of cries to recall the treats

This petition demands Woolworths and Bow Wow Pet Treats put our pets first by immediately recalling these dangerous products from store shelves nationwide, and take accountability for the harm they've caused by compensating affected pet owners. No pet owner should endure the trauma and heartbreak suffered by Tucker and Lido's families. While the families of Lido and Tucker were able to scrape together the money to save their beloved dogs, the cost to even get the examination and diagnosis was over $3,000 each, which is out of reach for so many families amid this cost-of-living crisis and almost certainly, many families have been forced to say goodbye to their dog simply because they could not afford the veterinary bills.
