Save Wildplant Rescue! We need a home!
The issue
Wildplant Rescue Service Inc needs a permanent home! We have been developing our nursery at the Clairvaux Community Centre in Oak St Katoomba for over 25 years and now the Department of Communities and Justice who own the property want to evict us!
Why bother to save our nursery?
We are a volunteer run not-for-profit group whose work for the community and the environment is highly valuable. We are a unique nursery in the Blue Mountains as we constantly work to increase the number of truly local plant species available to gardeners by rescuing plants from building sites and by expanding propagation techniques, thereby helping to protect the biodiversity of our World Heritage home. Our volunteers have supplied genetically sound local plants for thirty years and thus are helping to connect our community plantings safely to the bush and increase indigenous biodiversity. To read more about what we do visit our website www.wildplantrescue.org.au
So....
Please sign and share this petition so we can present it to Trish Doyle our local member, and to the Minister. Please show your support for us to be
1) granted permanent tenure at our current premises at the Clairvaux Centre, 14 Oak St Katoomba, This is our preferred option
2) or given a suitable alternative site with assistance to move since moving a whole nursery is too massive an endeavour for our small volunteer group.
There seems to be nowhere else for us to go and we may just have to close down if no solution is found.
WE HAVE BEEN TOLD WE ONLY HAVE UNTIL APRIL SO THIS IS URGENT
A concerned member has kindly started their own petition but this is from me, Verity, as President of Wildplant.
Please note any donations made on this page go to change .org to promote the petition but do not come directly to Wildplant in any way.
