Stop Forced Redundancies at QUT's Faculty of Science

Stop Forced Redundancies at QUT's Faculty of Science
The issue
QUT's Faculty of Science stands to lose 21 staff to redundancies along with the elimination of two Schools if Management's unprecedented and rushed plan goes ahead. As academics, sessional teachers and professionals, we ask for your support. These redundancies will have profoundly negative impacts for students, for staff, and for the future of science education, job-ready graduates and real-world research in Queensland. Negative consequences include:
- Diminished quality of student education by removing core teaching expertise and overloading teachers
- Overworked teaching and professional staff who are unable to deliver courses effectively or at all
- Diminished student well-being and loss of confidence in the quality and delivery of their degree
- Loss of key administrative staff, and overworking those who would remain
- Loss of unique research and industry-relevant expertise that the faculty is internationally known for and that has been cultivated over many years
- Unfinished student and faculty projects with industry partners and postgrad students left in limbo
- Reputational damage to QUT nationally and internationally
Your signature can make a difference.
Please join us now to prevent these forced redundancies! Sign and share our petition to protect our students' futures, the education and training of our future workforce for our State, our careers, and the future of science, research, and discovery at QUT!
