PRESIDENT TINUBU KEEP NIGERIAN SCHOOLS SAFE! NIGERIANS DEMAND ACTION NOW

The Issue

In the spate of one week, more than 200 persons including children were abducted in Borno state, about 287 school children in Kaduna state, and 15 pupils snatched from their boarding school in Sokoto state. The security situation sadly appears to have become a free-for-all as criminals now threaten the fabric of education in Nigeria.

SIGN THIS PETITION NOW

Nigeria has a National Policy on Safety, Security, and Violence-Free Schools (NPSSV-FS). Despite this, there are no concrete actions to protect schools, students, teachers and school owners.

Section 14 (2b) states that the welfare and security of the citizens shall be the primary purpose of government. The abduction of school children is a grave violation of their rights and a direct attack on the future of our nation. Every child has the right to a safe and secure learning environment, free from fear and violence. The recent incidents in various parts of Nigeria have caused immense distress and concern among families, communities, and the entire nation.

The continued attack on school children threatens the core of education in Nigeria. Nigeria is a signatory to the Safe School Declaration and is bound to provide security for schools and universities across the country.
