Naloxone, or Narcan is a life saving drug that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Normally, it is easy to use and AFFORDABLE. However, it has recently become hard to come by. This is not because of lack of availability but because of soaring prices. While our communities are in the midst of an opioid epidemic, Narcan prices have sky rocketed to up to 30 times their normal price. We are in the middle of an extreme health crisis and the unavailability of Narcan due to big pharma’s price gouging will only result in unnecessary, likely preventable deaths. Please sign this petition to let your state and federal representatives know that this is an unacceptable situation. Action needs to be taken like requiring pharmaceutical companies to lower their prices, or creating federally funded programs to help buy and supply Narcan.
