■ Les pedimos que nos acompañen con su firma en este reclamo masivo por la prohibición de las carreras de galgos. Y solicitamos a los legisladores de Uruguay que se trate en ambas Cámaras, con responsabilidad institucional, dicha PROHIBICIÓN de CARRERAS de GALGOS, una problemática que pone en jaque, innecesariamente, la vida de miles de animales.

■ Los galgos no son "entretenimiento deportivo", ni tampoco les "gusta correr por una apuesta", no son "deportistas", ni buscan "competir" ya que la competitividad es una conducta netamente humana. Les atribuimos comportamientos y etiquetas que son inherentes al ser humano, otorgadas a los animales para beneficio y rédito propio.

■ Como antecedente contamos con la Prohibición mediante Decreto Presidencial N°452 (http://bit.ly/DecretoPresUY) del 26 de Diciembre de 2018, por considerarlas como un trato cruel hacia los animales y un negocio de juego ilegal; y que se desarrollan en un ámbito de maltrato hacia los animales, los que son sometidos a un entrenamiento feroz, forzando su reproducción en forma reiterada y sin controles, llegando al abandono y muerte cuando no tienen condiciones para competir o los resultados en competencia no son los esperados por los tenedores; considerando que es necesario avanzar en la protección de los animales, erradicando una actividad que actualmente se desarrolla en la ilegalidad y que se ha demostrado que provoca sufrimiento en los mismos, vulnerando las disposiciones de la Ley N° 18.471 en cuanto a las obligaciones impuestas a los tenedores de animales.

■ We ask you to join us with your signature in this massive demand for the prohibition of the greyhound racing. And we request the legislators, senators and represengatives to discusss this matter, GREYHOUND RACING PROHIBITION, an issue that risks unnecessarily the lives of thousands of animals, with institutional responsibility.

■ GREYHOUNDS ARE NOT SPORT ENTERTAINMENT, they do not like to run for bets, they are not athletes, they do not want to compete, we humans do. We give them behaviors and labels that are inherent to human beings to obtain benefits form them.

■ As background we fall back on a presidencial decree, number 452, that bans Greyhound racing since December 26, 2018. Greyhound racing is considered a cruel treatment of animals and an illegal gambling business, and they occurr in abuse fields.
.
■ The animals are under fierce training, forced reproductions repeatedly and with no controls, they are abandoned or die when they can no longer compete or they are no longer good enough. We consider it is necessary to move forward in the protection of animals, eradicating an activity that nowadays is developing illegally and that has proved to be an activity that causes animal suffering and infringes the 18471 law provisions in relation to the obligation imposed to the animal holders.
