Remove Racist Principal Robin McCoy from KY HS for Civil And Amendment Rights Violations

The Issue

If you even remotely know me, you know how much I despise RACISM! It is sickening to me to know that it still occurs in the city I lived in as a child until the 1st grade and is currently allowed at the local Marshall County High School everyday where my son now attends. We have a 3% minority rate in our entire town! As a newly retired teacher of 15 years from an urban HS, we just relocated, and I began serving as a sub. To my shocking surprise, a good 30+ years later, a Caucasian student (97% of the student population in this school) used the derogatory term of “n!gger” in my class at MCHS and the principal, Robin Hawkins McCoy, did not one thing about it, nor did her vice principal, Leah Beth, nor did the new Superintendent, Steve Miracle.

Actually, they didn’t address the situation at all. How’s that for you? They were more concerned because I reprimanded the student and addressed the class in the lesson by telling them a real life story about how it had happened to my teammates and I in this very same county when we traveled playing ball in school about 25 years ago and how offensive and traumatic it was. Apparently me telling the history and facts was offensive... but not using the term back then or now.

Don’t let anyone fool you! These students have a rude awakening when they get into the “real world” after they leave Benton, KY as they use the word “n!gger” as part of their regular vocabulary like it is accepted as a norm in society. Sorry- it’s not. They’ve been allowed at “Hoopfest” to make monkey noises at other team from Metropolis, IL with no repercussions less than 3 months ago.

Don’t sit around and think because someone holds a “title” they are above you! SPEAK UP! Send an email, go above them, rate the school, but let them know you are not ok with it! They are afraid of the students and the parents. They won’t put them in their place. I thought the days of being racist in this county were over! They will not teach my son that racism is ok! As I said above, my  teammates from FHS experienced the same treatment when we traveled to MCHS to play in a ball tournament over 20 years ago, and that image has remained in my head til this day!

Are you ok with what they are teaching your children? Ignoring behavior is accepting it. I’m not. And I bet if they thought I was somebody or a part of a clique in Marshall County, they wouldn’t have ignored me. Yet, to them, I am a nobody. I am a single Mom from TN with no ties here. Let them keep thinking. I don’t and won’t go away. I promise all of you that. I saw what they let happen, and I won’t let it happen.

I am a researcher- but look for yourself. You will have a hard time finding one, just 1 picture of Robin McCoy displayed on Social Media in the last decade with an African American. I don’t find it coincidental that she moved to a county with such a small percentage of minorities or that she allows such racism to occur in her school. I believe it is her mission to teach children her own views that the white race is superior, and people from her last community have offered comments that support that. I’ve investigated her public past as far back as 2012, and it appears to me that I can’t find any pictures displaying her support of diversity of race. I hope I am wrong.
