Petition to Reinstate the Bus Service from Hayle Towans to St Ives

For the attention of Transport for Cornwall,

We, the undersigned residents, visitors, and business owners, are writing to formally petition for the immediate reinstatement of the bus service connecting Hayle Towans to St Ives. The recent decision to discontinue this essential route has left thousands of people without a vital public transportation link.

This cessation has had a severe and immediate impact on our community and the local tourism industry. Specifically, it has created significant accessibility challenges for:

The approximately 300 holiday chalets at Riviere Towans Chalet Camp.
The approximately 300 caravans at the Riviere Sands Haven holiday park.
Guests at the local hotel and various other private holiday lets in the area.
Permanent residents who rely on this service for daily travel, access to essential services, and leisure activities.
These numbers highlight the considerable number of people—including holidaymakers, residents, and seasonal workers—who have been directly affected. The loss of this service not only isolates these communities but also hinders economic activity by making it difficult for people to travel between Hayle and St Ives.

We believe that reinstating this bus route is crucial for:

Addressing the pressing transportation needs of thousands of holidaymakers and residents.
Supporting the economic vitality of local businesses and the broader tourism industry.
Ensuring equitable access to public transport for all members of our community.
We urge you to conduct a comprehensive re-evaluation of this decision and to take prompt action to reinstate the Hayle Towans to St Ives bus service.

Sincerely,

The Concerned Residents and Visitors of Hayle
