I know multiple people who have to worry about going homeless or not getting good jobs just because they took away jobcorps it helped millions better themselves and their lives. Why are we taking things away that WE THE PEOPLE want? please put yourself in the shoes of the people effected by this. Its extremely unfair and its targeting the lower class.
I'm currently a student at Denison Job Corps we just got the news we won't be open for more than a week. I have no home same with a lot of us my friends and family are here. YOU CAN'T TAKE THIS FROM US!!
I worked at Red Rock Job Corps Center Lopez PA 1999 to 2010. So many success stories due to Job Corps. It would be a huge mistake to closed the Program. Save Job Corps please
I know several people personally that have either worked at Job Corp or went there for training. Job Corp is a place where people can find a direction in life, to make a life not so hard to survive. Please keep this program and ones like it
This is our future labor force young people who may have made a wrong choice and instead of continuing to make wrong choices decide to try and turn their lives around and chose Job Corps and after choosing to do a good thing they are basically being told they aren't worth it or good enough in a society that is already struggling as human beings Trump and his administration think this is where cuts should happen? In the future of this country? This is appauling and makes me ashamed to be an American. This is not the American I grew up in and I never thought this great country
Shutting funding down for job corp will not only hurt the young adults who rely on it, but it will also ruin their chances at a bright successful future. Many of the young adults that attend this program are either homeless come from damaging families, or simply lack funding to attend any other program if the program were to shut down many of these young adults will turn to a life of crime. He’s young adults need the motivation and the support of the program to help them have a second chance at a good future where will these children go? If the program were to stop will they live on the street? Will they have to be on the corner? Would they end up in a morgue because they turn to a lifestyle that did not really suit them or they weren’t meant for, but had to turn to because there were no other options. Our society doesn’t need more criminals. We need young adults who were gonna have a good career and give back to their community. These children need the education that job Corp. supplies they need that support that many of these children don’t have at home. there are so many other things that can thrive without funding but job Corp. is not one of them. I have a son who is currently at job Corp. getting his life together for his second chance because being out here on the streets wasn’t doing anything for him, nor was it providing a foundation for him to survive I ask that everyone comes together, especially us older adults to help these young adults. Stay on the path to successfulness taking this away with discouraged them from doing anything goodthe system has failed the young adults for so many years. Let’s not continue the cycle by stripping them of their second chances at becoming someone, I pray that the program beats the closure stands tall and continues to help the young youth.
My son is counting on this program! He is on the spectrum and is very smart but needs the structure and routine of dorm style living staffed 24/7 to be successful! We need more people in the trades! Don't punish the kids!
Not a member of the program, but I've seen its results.
When I was a teacher with some very problematic students. I went to an administrator asking what I could do to help. He said, "Every kid deserves an education to better their lives, but not every kid will succeed from the same education. Public schools work for many kids. Some kids learn about the real world and get their GED in the prison system. Some just need to see education from a more practical setting, and I tell those kids to look into Job Corp."
Cutting Job Corp would have a devastating effect on our young adults. Job Corp is an investment in the future workforce that makes America so great. If you want to "Make America Great Again", invest in the workforce, don't cut out this avenue for success.
