A Respectful Appeal to His Majesty The King: Cancel the Planned Visit of Donald J. Trump
Your Majesty,
With the deepest respect for the enduring role of the Crown as a symbol of unity, moral responsibility, and national dignity, I humbly and sincerely appeal for the cancellation of any planned visit to the United Kingdom by Mr Donald J. Trump.
Mr Trump’s conduct, both in and out of office, has consistently demonstrated contempt for democratic principles, international cooperation, and civil discourse. His public statements and actions have emboldened racism, misogyny, xenophobia, and political violence. To afford such an individual the honour of a royal welcome would stand in stark contrast to the values Her Late Majesty so steadfastly upheld and which Your Majesty continues to embody.
The United Kingdom must not become a platform for the legitimisation of intolerance, dishonourable leadership, and incitement to division. A visit of this nature, particularly one involving any form of royal recognition, risks tarnishing the reputation of our nation and the moral authority of the Crown in the eyes of the British people and the international community.
Your Majesty, I respectfully urge you to withdraw any offer of hospitality or official engagement extended to Mr Trump. Such an act would not only reflect the conscience of the nation but would also affirm that the United Kingdom remains steadfast in its commitment to integrity, inclusivity, and the rule of law.
I invite all who share these concerns to join me in this petition and to add their voices to this dignified and principled request.
With sincere loyalty and respect.
The news this morning that Trump is 'pausing' further military aid to Ukraine reveals his true colours even more starkly.
He's moved from bullying to outright blackmail.
The US may be bigger than any individual European country, but if we stand together we are stronger.
You can't let bullies get what they want by force or threats of force.
If we give in to his blackmailing of Ukraine, we give him carte blanche to do the same to anyone else who displeases him.
We can't trust an 'ally' who seems more closely aligned with Russia/Putin's agenda than our own.
Trump is acting like the spoiled kid that no-one likes and only puts up with because they 'have all the best toys'. He wants to be the 'hero' and when faced with that plaudit going to someone else, is throwing a tantrum and threatening to take his toys away...
The world needs to cut America loose - painful as that will be - and show Trump that 'America First' means 'America Alone'.
