449 was expensive enough. I plan to VOTE WITH WALLET by WAITING!!! This will HURT sales. Might have to lower price like did with 3ds from 249 to 169 and bite bullet short term to make up sales. Sure diehard fans will buy day one but depending on amount increase due to tariffs but the average consumer isn’t going to spend $500+ on a gaming console. They are more concerned with monthly bills and necessities like FOOD. I know gaming is a business but Nintendo needs to grasp that the average consumer isn’t MADE OF MONEY and some of us don’t do YouTube for income
I think game key cards are a step away from preserving art and towards big companies having control over it. I think they want to get people comfortable with not owning what they buy despite paying premium for it, and slowly removing the consumer’s control and choice. Since they’ll become worthless when the Switch 2 servers go down, they’ll also be significant and unnecessary plastic waste! I’ll not be supporting this practice at all, even from my favourite franchises, and I’ll make a point of buying proper physical releases of games and paying more specific attention to those that offer them. Thanks for creating this petition! :)
As far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing enticing about Game-Key Cards. A game being distributed and played through a physical format is not only the superior way, but also the natural way, as it always was. I fail to understand why there’s the need to put paying customers under the hassle of managing digital storage, waiting for downloads, and having an empty card on his/her shelf. When I purchase a game for my console, I want to be able to play straight away, without trouble or lost time. Due to this situation and lack of attractive games announced so far, I don’t plan to get the Switch 2 on launch, but if/when I do, I will absolute skip games released as Game-Key Cards and restrict myself to true physical releases.
