Central Camp needs to be exempt from any restrictions and continue living and activities as they are today. My family has a cabin up there and we have been going my entire life. This would end our family activities.

These are the ancesteral lands of the Nyyhmy (Western Mono/Monache) and need to be protected for future generations.

My great great grandfather brought my family here to thrive live off this land. If you take these lands away from us, it will be just like what Christopher Columbus did to the Native Americans. #TrailOfTears2

I live in Shaver Lake I’m right in the middle of the Sierra national Forest coming up 168 accordingly to the map it starts at Prather and works its way up. This will not only affect Shaver Lake, China Peak, Lakeshore Resort, Huntington Lake, and all the businesses in shaver and in those Places this is unacceptable. This has to be stopped. We can’t allow this to be taken over by anyone. Hopefully we can keep Biden from signing this into law. We need to fight this. I’ve been coming up to this area since the 1970s my husband since 1947 and now they want to take it away from us, this has to stop

As a resident of Mariposa, and a horseman, this Monument proposal would actually be a benefit for my wife and I. But guess what, it’s not all about us and riding our horses. It’s about sharing the land for ALL to enjoy. There’s already plenty of wilderness acreage in our beloved Sierra. Closing access to the Sierra National Forest is NOT managing it, it’s just a lazy way out of dealing with the issues we all know need attention. Lack of Ranger presence is a huge issue in my view. Closing campgrounds is another one. Our country suffers from an epidemic of depression. Folks need to get outside for the good medicine it can provide, no prescription needed. Remember this.....Stephen Mather, the father of our National Park system, suffered terribly from depression. What he wanted most? Access to our beautiful public lands for all to enjoy. Ladies and gentlemen, figure it out! One things for sure, a National Monument in place of a National Forest is not the answer this time around.

I love where I live and enjoy being able to use the land to ride horses and many of my friends would be adversely affected by this takeover of land. Please stop this!

Life long resident and member of the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians. Former wildland fire fighter and Captain for the Sierra National Forest. My family used to have land allotment at Pickinpah Meadow my Grand Father built the cabin there back during the Great Depression. They would move the cows on horse back from their Ranch on Corrine Lake road drive them past Cascadel every summer. My family gathered acorns among the Black Oaks around Kinsmen flats to grind up traditional acorn mush. My Grandma hunted and gathered up basket material to make baby baskets by hand . Using the natural resources in the Sierra mountains. To me it’s unthinking to have limited access to the Forest among the American taxpayers. Many local residents depend on having access to these resources for a variety of purposes. The land is public and belongs to the locals of Madera and Fresno Counties. Just as much it belongs to someone who lives in The state of Main , New York or Nebraska. As retired Engine Captain the ability to gain access to roads was already limited. Slower response times to suppress these fires only increased these fires to burn more acres and destroy more resources. The Forest was already overgrown by the decrease of logging. You add in the bug kill from the early 2,000 s and its one of the main ingredient to fuel the Creek fire of 2020. The Sierra used to be known as the petrified forest. After the Creek fire I gues that title was lost. Yes i am against this idea . Leave our community alone.

They’re called public lands for a reason. They belong to all of us. Shutting out the public is not the answer. People need more access, not less. There are numerous national parks, wilderness areas, and national monuments within 100 miles of Fresno, and we don’t need this land locked up for more.

I moved here to Mariposa with my family to raise my sons here. We live near the Sierra national forest. We go riding there often for the last 40 years.. I have spent the last 3years of my life trying to create a route thru the forests and around the National Parks, Kings Canyon, Sequoia and Yosemite NP. The Sierra NF ios our life, riding, and fishing, and just enjoying the outdoors, vista views and solitude one finds in the Sierra National Forest. I am STRONGLY opposed to the range of light monument. I feel thousands of Californians would be negativity affected by this over reach land grab, from not just Californians but Americans. We need access to and use of our public lands and not less or restricted use by people who dont even live or are not directly affected by this irresponsible land grab from TAX PAYERS. we will peacefully protest in Oakhurst, CA 11/16/24 kevin kleinsmith 4396 Usona Rd, Mariposa, CA. ps my street name is an acronym for United States Of North America.. i didnt name it.. just sayin.. they wanted to secede from the Union.. back in the day...
