Shooting ranges are popular facilities for gun enthusiasts to practice and improve their marksmanship skills. While they serve as a controlled environment for firearms training, recent petitions have highlighted concerns about safety regulations and noise pollution in residential areas near shooting ranges.
One petition calls for stricter safety measures at shooting ranges to prevent accidents and ensure responsible gun ownership. Another petition addresses the environmental impact of lead contamination from spent ammunition, proposing eco-friendly alternatives for shooting ranges.
By exploring these petitions, individuals can support efforts to promote safe and sustainable practices at shooting ranges. Your involvement can contribute to a positive change in gun culture and enhance community well-being. Join the movement to advocate for responsible gun use and environmental conservation at shooting ranges.

Over the last year, we have noticed gun fire in the evenings coming from the proposed range site. We are located in the center of a nearby residential neighborhood. Given that zoning is intended to prevent incompatible land uses, we find several issues with the proposed range: potential public safety issues including adequate munitions storage and firing lane safety arcs including fragments as well as increases in ambient noise levels, the potential for increased traffic on an already congested road, and potential air quality considerations. The potential for increased fire threats during the dry season as well as potential demands for additional fire protection presents another public afety issue.
We have lived here in the neighborhood for over 20 yrs and love the peace and quiet we have had until recently. We did not move out in this
area to hear constant gunfire at all hours of the day and night which has happened on and off under the radar already. This proposed gun range is less than 2 miles from another public gun range so the need is NOT there. It is also in a residential neighborhood. This is not safe for residents and especially those with children playing outside. The man that owns it has already been in trouble and shown to be hard to deal with. We do not want this in our neighborhood being both a nuisance and a danger.
I enjoy having the hunter education range located several miles east of this location and do not see the need for another range in this residential area. It is my understanding that legal firing/shooting/gun ranges must adhere to strict regulations and policies. For example, limited operation to daylight hours, implementing methods for maintaining noise levels below predetermined thresholds, meeting standard range safety both on the range and outside the range. For example, zero tolerance for stray or ricochet projectiles. Qualifications for range safety officer staff. I request the applicant for the zone change provide their design, operating plans, how they plan to all adhere to all regulatory, safety and environmental compliance. In addition, my family, friends (children) and I are opposed to an outdoor firing range less than a mile from our neighborhood, home and literally off a major road. Finally, we prefer this residential neighborhood not be adjacent to a commercial land use area.
