Westwood has been there for me for 45 years and helped with diagnosing my breast cancer as well as delivering my babies and emergency surgery for a cyst removal. This is wrong for Prime Health to throw them under the bus! Prime health needs to stand down and let Westwood do what they always do, serve the Kankakee county with true care for all of us woman. The women will not stay with prime health if you get rid of Westwood OB/GYN!
Switched to Westwood last year. Doctor Taylor was the first doctor to listen to me about all of my female problems. He was able to perform a hysterectomy on me last April. My uterus was doubled in size and had extra blood vessels attached. No wonder I was bleeding so heavy and having to get iron infusions! It breaks my heart they are being forced to close their doors when we need doctors that will actually listen to their patients. Please if you care about women’s health, sign the petition and add your voice!
This area (I’m from a surrounding area with no OBGYN care) relies on multiple providers in this field! Closing Westwood OBGYN would be detrimental to women’s healthcare in this area and the surrounding areas. Without these wonderful doctors, I wouldn’t have my two beautiful and healthy daughters! It is imperative to keep Westwood OBGYN open!!
It would be a huge disservice to the community for Westwood OB to close. Many years of wonderful patient-centered care that is being taken away against the practice’s wishes. Not only that, but patient after patient has vocalized that they have been a patient there for many years and trust them with their care. By closing Westwood, you are losing the trust of the community and in return losing business in the long run.
Westwood has served our family for almost 10 years. They have delivered 2 of our babies and we were planning on them delivering a 3rd. I am due at the end of July. It is devastating to our family to lose care at such a critical moment in pregnancy. We don't know what we will do to get immediate access to the care I'll need.
I had my first baby in January of 2024 and we plan to have more children. I considered Westwood and Riverside. Both places were so overwhelmed with patients it was very difficult to get an appointment. I had to wait several weeks until they were able to provide care. If Westwood closes Riverside can not support the needs of the community resulting in people not receiving care. This will put the lives of women and their unborn children in danger. I urge you to reconsider. Our community deserves access to OBGYN care.
I’ve been seen at Westwood since I was 18. I trust my providers there and I think that uprooting them so suddenly is a huge disservice to them and our community. We all deserve better. In an area with limited care options, you’re removing one of the only groups with doctors we trust.
Westwood OB has provided vital reproductive and women’s healthcare to thousands of patients whom not only rely on the medical care but the support, understanding and advocacy. This clinic is more than a medical office, it is a trusted safe space where patients are seen, heard and cared for with dignity and respect. Closing Westwood OB is creating a devastating gap in access to essential healthcare.
My wife and I are expecting this year and were going to Westwood and St. Mary’s to deliver. We had a good experience when we had our baby girl and were hoping the same for this coming baby. Losing Westwood would be a detriment to our community with the limited services there are around. Please reconsider and don’t close them!
I sign this petition because I believe strongly in access to quality healthcare for all. The loss of Westwood OB will drastically reduce the availability of OB and gynecological care for the women in our community. As always, those most affected by a shortage will be those who already have many barriers to healthcare—poverty, illness, and unstable transportation.
Prime Healthcare, you are a faceless institution, focused on temporary financial gain, but you are nonetheless responsible for the ethical decisions you make. You’re humans; act like it.
