My child was diagnosed in January of 2022, stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma. Here we are 3 years later and he’s still in maintenance treatment under a clinical trial. We have watched countless children fight different forms of childhood cancers and unfortunately many of them have gained their wings because the research for better safer and more effective treatments just isn’t there because the funding we receive is virtually non existent and drug companies don’t invest in research because it doesn’t make them money. So please Pfizer put your money where your mouth is and be a part of the change that is so greatly needed within this community for our children because they deserve the most and they are given the least.
The company worth billions of dollars with endless recourses probably understands cancer so well by this point that they can cure it. But they would rather treat the disease because it is more profitable. How anyone can sleep at night doing that is beyond me. Children should not die in a hospital bed daily because it is not profitable for a company to research & find better treatment or even a cure.
My 3 year old son was able to ring the bell by the grace of God, but not heroically and triumphantly like the actor shown in Pfizer. He CLAWED his way to his victory, and showed up to the finish line pale as a ghost, a human pin-cushion, smaller and weaker than when he began (in the 3rd %ile for boys his age), left with physical and emotional scars, kept alive for a year of treatments by nearly 30 blood transfusions. If children make it to their bell ringing, they arrive chewed up and spit out by these toxic, antiquated treatments that are engineered for adult bodies that have already finished growing. So many children are killed by the treatments that are too strong for them, and so many others by lack of treatments.
My son fought leukemia 3 times before the age of 10. We were very fortunate that his cancer has been one of the few that has been studied. He was the 12th child at Boston Children’s Hospital to receive CAR-T cell therapy before bridging to a bone marrow transplant. He suffers from numerous side effects from treatment and is at high risk for secondary cancers. We need to make researching children’s cancer a priority! They deserve better!
My daughter bravely fought Neuroblastoma cancer at 18 months old. We lost her 2 months shy of her 3rd birthday. She deserved better than the lack of funding offered for solid tumor PEDIATRIC CANCERS.
My beautiful son is healed in the arms of Jesus after fighting brain cancer for almost 5 years. He died just before his 16th birthday. Our kids deserve so much better than a company like Pfizer misleading the public and using kids like my son to make people think they actually are doing peds cancer research. DO BETTER!!! Put your money where your advertising is.
My ten year old Daughter died in May 2024 from a “rare” cancer called diffuse midline glioma h3k27. Radiation for 33 sessions. Her only chemo option was an adult trial modified for kids. All kids deserve more, they should be able to have a future and grow up!
