I am also in Townsville for a Spinal Cord Injury but due to the lack of equipment and knowledge I feel like i don’t have much choice but to go to Brisbane for rehab which is very sad and unfortunate.

Much needed support in NQ to keep moving forward and supporting our people. Having family and friends close is a MAJOR part of recovery in every way

It's important to have the proper treating specialist for spinal cord injuries, traveling the long distance to Brisbane only delays recovery and also adds to mental illness with depression also being added to the Injury from being apart from ones families in a time of great need. North Queensland gets left out with crucial funding required to fund such clinics . Something needs to change

My husband was recently diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. It has spread to other areas and is Stage 4. He had a terrible motorbike accident last year and his injuries, surgeries x 4 and recovery has masked some of the symptoms. A simple blood test yearly would have prevented this late discovery. His urologist believes he may have had prostrate for the last 10 years. He is 57 and we have been told average life expectancy is 5 years. Bring on mandatory testing!
Tracy a soutenu : Bring back ANNUAL PSA testing
I was diagnosed 3 years ago with prostate cancer at 48. I didn’t even know about PSA testing until my GP said I should get tested due to my family history . It came as a massive shock finding out I had cancer and I am grateful that my GP recommended the test. There is massive stigma amongst men to get tested. I think that’s largely due to men not being aware that it’s as simple as a PSA test now.

My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer 3 years ago which had already spread to other areas of his body by the time the diagnosis was made. If these tests were annual for men, his cancer may have been picked up sooner and he wouldn’t still be fighting the hard fight. Please sign so that other Aussie men don’t have to go undiagnosed.

My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2022 at age 44 . He had no symptoms .We were just taking precautions as he was adopted and had no family history .It was aggressive and the Drs said he if we hadn’t caught it he would have been dead in 18 months. Our boys were aged 4,8 and 12 . He had to have a prostatectomy. ( the whole prostate removed) The cancer was contained within the prostate so he didn’t have to have chemo or radiation . There were some problems after the operation but we worked through them and 23 years later he’s happy and has seen his boys now 30,34 and 38 grow up and get grandchildren . Because his cancer was so aggressive the Drs said our boys need to be checked from age 36. Early detection is VITAL !!!
