I grew up in the Hudson valley and while I enjoyed fishing and swimming in the river I couldn't eat the fish and who knows what damage I did swimming in the unknown poisons the river contains. It would be nice if future generations didnt have to have it that way.Commercial fishermen could earn some wages if the river could be restored to health. Ordinary citizens probably do eat some migrating fish. It would be wonderful if all could enjoy eating fish from this resource. Its a beautiful area, it would be a real boon to tourism if it can be cleaned further and nearer restoration. Please don't give up on it. Please continue to work on solutions to make it healthy once again. Thank you for your continuing efforts.
I worked in DOC for 12 years, have relatives & friends that were/are Corrections Officers & a relative in the National Guard. I am sure this all could have been avoided if Hochul simply listened & considered the concerns of DOC Officers. Was there ever a consideration of potential negative consequences related to the implementation of the HALT Act? Who better to query than front line staff ? but that has passed. I am appalled at the mistreatment of DOC Officers and now she is misusing the National Guard to staff the correctional facilities while misguiding the public that these men/women in the Reserves are all volunteering. NOT TRUE! Many are mandated which is affecting their personal life and jobs (their livelyhood!!) They have not been trained in or by Corrections so how is this safe for them, the Officers or the inmates? We New Yorker's need someone who we can trust to make the right decisions that will support us, stand by us, listen to us and work WITH us.
I am a retired NYS DOCCS Civilian and I retired in 2022 and the violence has only increased since I then. This needs to be addressed and taken serious before we have a prison takeover or many deaths .
As a former CO and Jail Deputy, I understand the hardships of the job. What is being asked of CO's these days are beyond ridiculous. The HALT Act has made an already challenging job almost impossible. No repercussions for bad behavior just enables the defiant and violent tendencies that are occurring at alarming rates across New York State. Everyone reaches a breaking point, and it's long past due in this case. Time for change. Not just your words and empty promises. Show the hard working CO's and Jail Deputies you support them by taking action. I know the world that exists behind the curtain. I support the CO's.
As a family member of a CO and safety officers within these walls. The conditions are not safe by any means. One of my parents is medically retired from being abused by inmates. My other parent before retiring received a broken hand that needed surgery as well. They worked 16-36 hr shifts and would hardly see them. Now my fiancé who is in the national guard is now locked inside a facility with no training for this type of work and no contact with me. This needs to end the staff inside this facilities need to be protected more than the inmates. Protect our COs and staff inside! Send our troops home!!!
Do something that will help NY not taxing and raising prices there are some of us that live on a fixed income can’t afford too buy food and have to even have to go to the dollar store to even get anything to eat !!!! That’s sad when I have to watch what I spend my money on and live with family because I can’t afford my own place to live !!!! Stop with the crazy taxes and the nonsense and do something real and useful for all new Yorkers and stop waving your money around. We don’t need to see it .Be KIND!!!!!
My son and I both work at the same facility and I watched him get exposed to an unknown substance twice he suffering from panicattacks and all we want is safer worker conditions and Kathy Hochul refuses to do her job and protect the people
