I have celiac disease, this is a health condition and NOT a life style choice, so we should not be penalised by not living in a certain area in the country to get gluten free products on prescription, by not sticking to a gluten free diet this can course further heath conditions later on in life and lead to higher costs for the NHS.

If you have an underactive thyroid, you're entitled to free prescriptions for all of your medicines. Coeliac is a lifetime autoimmune disease and has numerous linked conditions yet there are no free prescriptions and very little support, why not? Basic gluten free food has become a luxury for many who cannot afford to regularly purchase these items due to extremely high prices. NHS prescription support should be a minimum expectation. It's simply a case of prevention is better than cure; if you do not offer this, the NHS will be picking up the pieces when people who cannot afford to eat completely gluten free end up hospitalised or developing other conditions requiring health care services.

As someone who is suffering with coeliac disease, as a community we need all of your signatures coeliac or not. Every voice counts as if not people will continue to struggle

I was diagnosed in 1993 and have spent thousands of £s following a strict gluten free diet as I only received gluten free bread on prescription. As soon as I reached 60, when prescriptions are free on the NHS, my surgery stopped providing gluten free bread on prescription. So I have had to purchase bread as well as all the other gluten free foodstuffs since 2018. Unfortunately for me I have always lived in Hertfordshire, but I do know that in other areas of the UK, some Coeliacs still get gluten free food free of charge on prescription. It simply isn't fair. Also, I'm not entitled to annual blood tests nor access to a gastrologist but again, these services are available to others in the UK. The whole system needs changing now!

I am a celiac and the cost of living gluten free is wildly expensive. If we don't penalize diabetics for needing insulin or asthmatics for needing inhalers why should celiacs be punished with an insane cost of living. Some people realistically cannot afford this , especially as costs continue to rise. Supporting a perscription like this could make or break a house hold.

I understand about the need for our Government to save money, and I like to think of myself as independent and self sufficient. But as a Coeliac of some 20 odd years, I am regularly let down by supermarkets where they have run out of basic products or discontinued due to not enough demand. Also, there is a dearth of high fibre gluten free products in the supermarkets which we are encouraged as a nation to consume. Finally, add to the high cost of gluten free foods postage or the need to order big quantities on line and you will begin to understand how difficult it is for a Coeliac. Bread etc are essentials for life, not luxuries. Please reconsider.

The cost of gluten free food has become a significant burden. Gluten free flours are prohibitively expensive, and maintaining a healthy diet while adhering to gluten free restrictions only exacerbates the financial strain.

For celiacs, gluten free food is their required medicine, and should be provided by the NHS in the same way as any other health care. To remove or restrict it is tantamount to deliberately harming people in order to save money. Not acceptable.

True coeliac disease is a medical condition that must omit gluten. It is not a fad so not a life choice. My little brother was thankfully diagnosed at about 18 months and has survived to tell the tale. The condition does not need drugs, it needs gluten free products, affordable for all.

My little sister has been diagnosed with coeliac disease and thankfully has been on GF food ever since. This however, has made it extremely difficult for my parents to afford as well as her dealing with alienation and being left out many times in clubs groups where they’ve not catered to her needs. It is a serious condition that should be backed fully by the UK Government, as without its full support, many won’t be able to afford GF food and therefore will suffer terribly. Put people first and save lives.
