Doulas are essential advocates for pregnant individuals, providing emotional, physical, and informational support during childbirth. These skilled professionals play a crucial role in promoting positive birth outcomes and empowering parents. Petitions under this topic highlight the need for greater access to doula services, particularly for marginalized communities facing disparities in maternal health.
One petition calls for insurance coverage for doula services, emphasizing the financial barriers that prevent many individuals from benefiting from this valuable support. Another petition focuses on increasing diversity within the doula profession to better serve communities of color and those with limited resources.
By supporting these petitions, you can help ensure that all pregnant individuals have access to the support and guidance they need during one of lifes most transformative experiences. Join the movement to recognize the essential role of doulas in promoting maternal health and advocating for equitable birth experiences.
I’m not pregnant and have not had a baby yet but I have learned so much through this account and feel so excited to know there are more options than just hospital birth. I thought the only way to birth was with an epidural. I was never taught any of this. I thought the only position you could give birth in was on your back. I’m 25 years old now and have learned so much because of access to this knowledge and imagery. It is not sexual, it is not explicit, it is the most natural thing in the world and hiding this info places shame on it. Make it accessible. Have it pop up on someone’s feed so one day it’s normal and not taking anyone by surprise.
I care about this issue because this account shows us what doctors in big hospitals won’t tell us about birth and our birthing options. We don’t always need a hospital birth for a safe and effective delivery!
