EK council also have to implement wardens/or employ more wardens to book the cars, vans that use footpaths as part of there parking space, we had a incident with our young grandson who has mobility problems who was walking just steps from me right into some idiots wing mirror what a sore face he received, now our grandson was out of his wheelchair for a bit of exercise, & independence, along footpath, this is a disgrace & when I called council no one got back to me regarding this ,maybe the next kid that getss hurt with a wing mirror due to foolish parking someone may just be angry enough to remove or damage the drivers wing mirror as EK council obviously don't have wardens patrolling areas in EK, disgusting a child can't have a few minutes of independence with his splints on to walk freely !!!! So disgusted at EKDC

Accessibility should be warranted to those who need it. We never know when we who don't, may need it.

I have been personally affected by not getting diagnosed with autism early in life. I did get diagnosed with what was called ADD at the time. I also never was diagnosed in my school years with what I now understand to be co morbid conditions also typically seen occurring along side these two diagnosis. I have also suffer from an auditory processing delay, dyslexia, anxiety and CPTSD. Other children and adults will suffer greatly in life because of the stigma and the lack of resources and awareness and because of families having so little understanding, compassion, empathy and a willingness to become an advocate for change but rather they in some cases unknowingly project what was projected onto them as children on to the next generation. This is extremely traumatic and dis empowering to the child that is vulnerable and still needs help to move forward in life. The lack of acceptance, the neglect, the lack of love, time or attention due to the parents not addressing or having the strength or honesty or understanding to see the opportunity to make a positive difference is imperative to the quality of life and the ability for the child to function and thrive in a world that sees more needs equal more work and more work means that you are a cost and a burden and this fuels the self hatred, the self loathing, the hopelessness and the pain inside so much that it is no wonder ppl like this often turn to drugs just to numb the pain that they are not accepted, they are not loved and they they are broken, bad and don’t deserve to live and be treated right. This is where lack of education meets devastation. This is something we can clearly do something about and should do something about. I am making it one of my life goals to do whatever I can to bring awareness where awareness is not being given to the detriment of lets face it society as a whole! Every time we have a lack it will bring forth more and propagate till it is met with not only information but it has to be met with the right opposition with the right facts with the right people,in the right way, this is where passion love, obsession, persistence, determination and a voice that carries a message that must be heard, becomes your Secret Weapon and the factor that tips the scales in the favor of the loudest voice can truly make a difference! It will happen it will just take time but wonderful powerful passionate lovers ppl will do what it takes to see the change that must happen. I support this cause and I will always support brave wonderful ppl like these as much as I can for as long as I live. This affects me personally on a level maybe most do have the opportunity or a real life experience with what happens when you, ur parents, ur exes, ur brothers and sisters and many more ppl are walking examples of why this is so important to spread awareness and do whatever it takes to give the ppl what they need when they need it most but also at what ever point in time they do find out. They will and always will require therapy, resources, love, compassion, understanding and on going support to compensate for the deficits and the damage caused by ppl not knowing this was actually the problem the person was born this way and any negativity they face is the actual problem that creates a even bigger problem. But we can reverse engineer society destruction on good decision at a time. Love is the way, knowledge is the key and persistence will prevail over hate, ignorance and weak belief systems and programing that is faulty at its core. It is truly unfortunate that this has been happening but the silver lining is we have loads of lessons and data to work from now and some ppl will only require a little education to become a help and to stop being a part of the problem. I have hope and I believe in this cause. Thank you for taking the time to read my long passionate drawn out response to this issue. Have a great day I love you all :)

I was diagnosed with autism fairly recently through the NHS and as I’ve come to understand my diagnosis I’ve found that a lot of my symptoms overlap with those of ADHD. This also means that a lot of things I see that are support for ADHD are really helpful to me. I wish I had been enabled to find this out sooner. Dual assessment would have helped with this as I could have found out more about the ADHD autism overlap much sooner and not denied myself helpful ADHD tactics that I didn’t think were for me. (I now use whatever tips I find helpful)

I run a support group for families of children with adhd/autism most of these young people are going through assessment which is taking anywhere from 2 to 5 years to reach diagnosis What we're now finding is that a lot of them are being diagnosed with autism first as they will assess for that at age 4. Most go on to get an adhd diagnosis later. If they were assessed for both together it would save a lot of valuable time and get these young people and their families the support they need.

I was finally diagnosed autistic after a three and half year wait with constant argument in March 2024 after struggling professionally. I was told at the time they also suspect I'm ADHD and put me into yet again a secondary assessment track. Due to coming to my working age limit I am getting more sensory and tired, I find it incredibly wrong that I am expect to further wait after being on a year list for over three and now what does that mean seven years total wait ? ........ This is croydon 3B

My granddaughter was diagnosed with autism and possible ADHD. She's been on the waiting list for a full assessment for a number of years. She's 25 years old and suffers constantly.

Most people ignore self-diagnosis and lived experience. I was diagnosed with autism in my mid 40s. I believe I am also ADHD and waiting to be assessed. If I had been assessed for ADHD then it might have helped get the support I need.
