I strongly oppose the proposed wind farm near the Fyrish Monument in Ross-Shire. Having lived in the area and climbed Fyrish Hill countless times, I know firsthand how special this landscape is—not just for locals but for visitors who cherish its beauty, history, and tranquility. The monument itself is a symbol of our heritage, and the surrounding hills offer breathtaking views that should remain untouched.
A wind farm in this location would fundamentally alter the character of the landscape, diminishing the natural beauty and historical significance of Fyrish. These turbines would dominate the skyline, disrupting the very essence of what makes this place so unique. While I support renewable energy, it must be placed in appropriate locations that do not compromise Scotland’s most cherished landmarks.
I urge decision-makers to reject this proposal and seek alternative sites that do not threaten the cultural and environmental value of Fyrish. Let’s preserve this iconic place for future generations to enjoy, just as I have.
I have been visiting Fyrish nearly every year since 1970. It is a special and beautiful place offering wonderful views of the Cromarty Firth. The presence of a wind farm would destroy the environment here. The walk to Fyrish is a central part to the lives of locals in Evanston and Ardross and Alness. A wind farm would destroy this enjoyment.
I signed because the Oaklands is a vital part of Handsworth community, I attended on many occasions with Studio City sounds system. More importantly to me I also attended my first Cousins Sandra's wedding reception in 1982. We need the Oaklands to reopen in order to keep and build Community cohesion.
