I have trouble finding good enjoyable tv, especially for a guy,
without intense violence or sex. I've loved this show. Creative storylines people overcoming hardships small and large, and showing how people can genuinely help each other and love each other.
This is a refreshing change in the stories told in movies and shows right now!!! So many shows are serious or overly dramatic or the comedies are so stupid that I wish I could regain the brain cells that died watching it!! It's even rather hard to find casts, and I mean the WHOLE cast not just the stars, that have amazing chemistry with each other that is completely natural and NOT faked with all the tricks used in filming. My Lady Jane is funny without being mjnd numbing, light seriousness vs heavy seriousness, witty in just the perfect way (not too stupid but not so intellectual or smart that it takes a minute to understand), in many ways it feels more real than alot of the shows out there that are meant to feel real!!! It is absolutely a breath of fresh air that I have been searching for to forget the world and my life for just a bit!!! No deep serious stories or thrillers or comedies that make me question my sanity or humanity or society. Not overly romantic or gory or sex oriented. I also LOVE how the characters are multifaceted and believable and relatable!!! There are absolutely topics that are meant to touch on topics of importance BUT they aren't slapping you in the face with the topics! You actually have to think on the story more to see the topics and what they are lightly touching on!!! Its the drama-dy I have been searching for for far too long and was so deeply disappointed when I found that there was no reason 2 to look forward to!!!! PRIME FIX THIS NOW!!! Cause this show has WAY better reviews and ratings than other shows you stupidly keep going and have given a second season to shows that never should have gone beyond a pilot episode let alone a second season!!! I'm beyond sick of amazing shows with great reviews and rating getting the axe for basically 0 reason and shows that get the worst reviews and lowest ratings are given a "2nd chance" to prove themselves and MAYBE become something! Support your GOOD shows and let the crappy ones go!!! LISTEN TO YOUR VIEWERS AND NOT TO YOUR SHAREHOLDERS or whoever is paying you off (or otherwise/worse) to keep the crappy ones and ditch the good ones!!! All you streaming services have been doing this lately and I am ready to cancel all of you and go back to cable!!! Atvleast there you have a decent chance of getting a show for more than 1 season and get a REAL reason for killing a show and for the price we consumers pay for all the streaming services anymore, cable is becoming cheaper and more reliable!!! GIVE MY LADY JANE AT LEAST 1 MORE SEASON, preferably sign them on for 2 MORE SEASONS to allow decent storyline and to make it up to the viewers!!!
New Trier is probably one of the only public high schools in the country to offer such a substantial student-run theater program. I was involved for all four years, from 1989-1993, on costume crew, as costume designer, and as a writer. Lagniappe provided unmatched opportunities for leadership and collaboration. It's been a learning opportunity handed down from one generation of students to the next. Whatever challenges exist could be addressed as part of the experience. It's uniquely NT and should be supported and sustained.
My mother was in it, my sister was in it and both my kids were in it. 3 generations whose lives were set on a trajectory by participating. Do not end it
This is one of my favorite parts of the school year - the community and creativity is always so fun and I’ve formed really great connections from it ❤️ it’s iconic too -my mom and aunt were apart of it in the 80’s and brother was apart of it in 2010’s. Please don’t let this tradition die
Lagniappe allowed me, now a high school orchestra director, some of my first experiences arranging music for student groups. I do this all the time in my job and it’s great that so many students have gotten the same opportunity over the years.
I don’t know the current situation, but. I think that this show is a New Trier tradition that should remain.
Lagniappe Potpourri had an enormous positive impact on my high school years. As a member of the stage crew, the show was not just another musical, but what you trained and worked towards for four years. We would start working over the summer and looked up to our peers when they ran the show and taught the under classmen when it was our turn. Strong, lasting friendships emerged and we cared deeply about the results and representing the school as a whole. While other shows were enjoyable they felt more like lessons that would help us be successful with Lagniappe Potpourri.
I learned so much in high school when I participated in this show, as a performer, as stage crew, and as a crew head. The amount of planning and collaboration, and just doing all the stuff that a show takes to put together, was a better learning opportunity than all the forced group projects done in regular classes because it was chosen, it was something we cared about, and it was something that had to be performed in front of a paying audience. You can't put a price on the value of learning how to do that and being successful at it. Please keep this show alive.
I was in lagniappe potpourri 2017 and on the board as the choreographer for lagniappe potpourri 2018. This tradition provided me with so much joy, community and gave me a place to develop my leadership skills. It would be to the detriment of the new trier student body to take away a show that allows them to create something entirely unique from the ground up. Please listen to the students and save lagniappe potpourri!!!
Lag/Pot was a formative part of my New Trier experience. Not only did it open a possibility for me in theater (costumes!), which I loved - it gave me access to leadership roles in my second year of high school. Together with others on the Board, we built a show from nothing. With our crew, my co-costume designer and I did everything from design the look, create costumes, procure costumes, lead a costume crew of peers, maintain a budget, meet deadlines, consider opinions and needs of all: director, writer, actor, set, lights, props.... We raised money, handle challenging interpersonal and budget problems, and learned how to create something from scratch, from the absolute start to the absolute end. The relationships and learnings I gained as part of Lag/Pot provided me with experience I couldn't have gained otherwise at New Trier, and certainly not at that age. It served me well for all kinds of summer jobs, college applications, and internships. The arts and the diverse roles within the arts are crucial -- even more so when students are mentored through the entire production process and leading the show. I'm deeply saddened by the potential loss of this opportunity for current and future New Trier students. I look forward to hearing of a strong Lag/Pot production in the near future.
