Chinese silvergrass has popped up everywhere around us, presumably from the wind or birds carrying the seeds from our neighbor's property. It's huge and rigorous and impossible to pull out of the ground. Invasives wreak havoc in slow motion, but way too fast for any of us to keep up with. Stop selling this stuff, please!!
Our local parks are ecological disaster areas thanks to stores like Home Depot promoting invasive plants. I have spent a lot of time helping to remove invasive plants from my own yard as well as public green spaces and I refuse to support irresponsible businesses like Home Depot.
I witness the devastation of our natural areas by non-native plant proliferation and see education, community action and corporate leadership are vital. My partner and I have spent the last 6 years in effort to eradicate these exotic invaders that in times past were thought to be beautiful and non-harmful.
for many people, especially those in the "tornado alley" or areas that are prone to severe storms in general, these cuts will likely lead to many more casualties, especially in widespread events like outbreaks. as a citizen of NE who, unfortunately, witnessed the July 31st windstorm, i cannot imagine the amount of lives lost if such a disaster had happened with the cuts, likely way more than i could imagine.
Cuts to NOAA and the NWS will cause greater losses of life as we enter severe weather season. It's not a question of if more people will be lost, but of how many will be lost.
I walk or cycle or tidepool this coastline several times per week and am always happy to see so many people doing the same-- the cultural and environmental value of the Pt Pinos headland is precious to us all and million more.
Literally watching the jets spray over LA at this very second I'm signing the petition... such a disgusting and evil thing to put on all of us citizens... this has to stop. The chemicals make it nearly impossible to grow your own healthy food garden and clearly changes the weather patterns throughout the year.
