This has to be a law. A child gets S/Aed every HALF AN HOUR in Congo. It genuinely breaks my heart to see these statistics knowing that every 30 minutes people suffer. My sister was raped by her best friend about 4 years ago. I'm 12. I'm going through puberty. I already make a lot of mistakes and with puberty that amount is only going to be doubled. And I'm scared that if I make too big of a mistake, that this will happen to me too. Sincerely, Connor.
As a mother, I am completely outraged with this. My mother was mentally ill and she was not allowed to have custody of me - and for that reason, I am here today. The system failed this baby boy, he should have been protected. His bio mom should be in prison for life, as she was mentally stable enough to have custody of her bio son.
In court, she did not allow my attorney to speak. She asked the defendant do she want her daughter, a child who thought she was her sister. She responded no. She court ordered that child go with the mother anyway. The child, affected by this to this day. Ripped from the only family she knew. Was placed in foster care because she never had counseling with this stranger and did not go because of this order to go with her mother who openly stated in court she did not want her. Instead of allowing her to go where she was safe, she is a foster child instead of going with a family member as a punishment for not going with with her mother who said she didn’t want her. This child will be graduating with honors this year and overcame the mess Judge Floyd created for her. There was family who could’ve taken her. This will take many many years to repair. Maybe, irreparable.

As a mother, it breaks my heart the system failed this young boy and put him in danger. This boy left this earthly world too soon and left behind people who loved and cared for him, people who would were trying to protect him. So saddening.
This is completely devastating. This should not have happened. That boy was doing amazing in his foster home. Those parents that killed him should never have gotten him back. No parents that have had there kids taken from them can turn around and “be better” in that short amount of time. There were plenty of lawyers and professionals advising that he not go back to his bio parents, why the hell would you ignore that? if you can sit there and let these children go back to these homes that put them in danger, you should not be a judge, and you should be behind bars for the rest of your life. I don’t care if she is a judge, she 100% needs to be punished for what she did.
The case of Curtis was entirely preventable and truly shows a lack of morals and common sense from the judge. Family by blood should never trump abuse. What a shame for a child’s potential to end that way.
The justice system is in serious danger. Too often things are overlooked and and bad overtakes good. We the people rely on the police, courts and judges to help make our world better. When someone in power abuses their privilege, it needs to be addressed. When someone in power causes death, it's time to wake up and do something. This judge has caused too much damage and now a little boy, Curtis, has fatally suffered. How many more victims will there be before something is done? The victims family, friends, social workers all advocated for this childs safety not to be returned to the biological mother. It is not always best for children when there is severe health issues that can potentially hurt a child. There were so many other steps that should have happened before the mother was given full custody. As you read this, think about it as it was your child. What work you do if it was? Please do something, thank you.
