Over 8 years ago I left my now ex husband and he is Willis Hilty and a registered violent sex offender for life. Yet he keeps taking me back to court to try to get visitation with the 7 amazing children I have raised alone so far ,these children are doing extremely well inspite of the horrific trauma they experienced at the hands of their Dad. I stand firm with Misty in creating change and these Amish systems are cults nothing short of it.
I left the Amish in 2022 with my 7 children due to Amish leaders wanting to reconcile me and my children with my abusive now ex husband Willis S Hilty...
Being a survivor of SA by my grandpa when I was age of 5 - 8, and then him being protected by my religion (Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints) is why I care about this issue! It’s staggering how much child abuse is perpetrated by religious patriarchal men! Please sign this petition and help stop this horror from continuing.
Protecting children and their right to be safe from crimes against them should be congress's first priority. It's something that should have already been addressed by this point; it could have already saved so many lives.
I was raped from the age of 5 until i was 12 by my step dad. I was later raped as a teenager, and then by my exhusband while married. No one has been prosecuted. Girls and woman don't feel like anyone cares about them.
In this day and age, there is no excuse to not report suspected child abuse. The fact that people are capable of committing such horrific acts of brutality and abuse to vulnerable children is disgusting. A person that is supposed to be a care giver and does nothing but create misery and fear really should not be allowed to continue with this! It is only through people speaking out and taking action that this kind of abuse can and will be stopped
Children and the youth are also human beings. Everyone else recognizes an adult's humanity, but unfortunately, the same people wouldn't extend the same courtesy towards a child. Not acceptable.
I signed this because I don’t believe we should grant a permission slip to people to abuse children even if, and especially if, they claim to be committing human rights violations as a divine, sacred, religiously protected act. Its about the kind of society I want to live in and that’s one in which human rights take precedence above all else and serves as the bedrock of all decision making.
