As the main demographic that grew up with these characters, to see them changed into this, is devastating. Everything gets rebooted and changed these days, I think we should be allowed to have ONE thing remain the same. The nostalgia of the OLD animation is where it's at.
As someone who grew up with Shrek movies I don’t think it’s fair to take something from the past people still hold close to disregard them and move forward to attract the generation of today. If the goal is to gain their attention, they need to focus on moving forward, write a different story and be creative for once in these coming years. It’s very hard to find movies now that aren’t related to today’s memes or viral moments. Make something Dreamworks, and leave your comfort zone again.
My family and I love the shrek movies. They’re something that we will constantly sit down together and binge as a family. We have always found the movies hilarious and to have a great storyline. However, with the new animation of Shrek 5, it does not seem to be loyal with the original animation at all. I get that they want to modernize the film for a newer generation, but don’t forget about the older generation that grew up watching these films. Heck, even copying the same newer kind of animation used in Puss in Boots 2 would look good for this film. I’m not for this complete new redesign of characters though. Please just remember the older fans too with this new movie.
LI was only a few months old when #2 came out. I grew up watching all the shrek movies (1-4) and it was a huge part of my childhood. Watching them ruin the animation like that hurt. It looks horrible. We all want the ORIGINAL shrek back
As someone who grew up with the original Shrek movies you can ask my family how many times I would ask to rewatch them over and over again. The animation style brings on a kind of nostalgia like with Veggie tales and the old barbie movies. The new recreation of all theses movies looks cheap, tacky and honesty looks like many studios have turned to AI generated characters. I loved the Last Wish Movie the animation style was amazing and the story was captivating while also covering mental health. Even if the animation style was in that style that would be great. But this new style just looks like a short TikTok video and its honestly terrible. We need to stop how people are running the original movies that the original creators out so much time into.
This is not the Shrek I know or grew up with! I was very excited about a new Shrek movie coming out until I saw the way our long beloved characters completely changed. It’s like they aren’t even the same characters anymore, it feels like imposters. Please DONT RUIN the great franchise of Shrek movies because you want to update animation style to match “the current time”. It is utterly disappointing to long time Shrek fans that have watched since the beginning, please take into account the voices of the people you make your money off of. Like others have stated, I will not be spending my money on this movie if the animation is not changed back to NORMAL nor will I show my daughter this new Shrek.
I say we all speak for the kids who grew up with the original animation of Shrek including myself. Seeing this new version of Shrek is not it. We love the way the original Shrek movie was animated before! There was no need to change it to “appeal” to the newer generation. We would really appreciate it to have Shrek 5 done with the original animation. :(
