Abortion bans have sparked intense debate globally, with various countries enacting restrictive laws that limit womens reproductive rights. Recent events, such as the passing of stringent abortion bans in certain U.S. states, have galvanized activists and organizations to push back against these restrictions. Petitions within this topic focus on promoting access to safe and legal abortion services, challenging oppressive legislation, and defending womens autonomy over their bodies.
Notable petitions have garnered significant support, including one advocating for the repeal of the so-called heartbeat bills that ban abortions as early as six weeks into pregnancy. Another petition calls for the protection of abortion rights for all women, emphasizing the importance of reproductive freedom and healthcare access.
Join the movement by exploring the petitions on abortion bans and adding your voice to support womens rights to make decisions about their own bodies. Your action can help champion reproductive justice and protect the fundamental rights of individuals worldwide.
I have always been supportive of women’s rights, as was my mother. What is happening now is terrifying. We must do the work; sign and share petitions, help get out the vote. I have a young granddaughter and I refuse to see her grow up in this mess.
Abortion means putting the MOTHER before any potential child. Instead of criminalizing choice, try offering compassion. Family planning, mental health resources, listen to the womxn who have to live with the consequences.
Trying to control and punish women for their body autonomy has harmed women seeking safe healthcare, and even caused suffering to women who have had miscarriages in their most vulnerable moments.
Leave my body alone! Leave my daughters body alone! Keep your politics and religion away from out bodies. I am an individual who deserves freedom of choice.
Making decisions about our medical care is a basic right and these deeply personal medical decisions should be between women (sometimes girls) and medical professionals. I have three nieces who are growing up now and if they need a procedure to save their life it should be an option for them.
People need abortion for various reasons. Not every abortion is someone trying to use a get out of jail free card. There are many occasions where it ends up being the only way to save the life of a mother. It's also not right that if a rapist rapes a women and gets her pregnant, he can get parental rights. But if this goes through these same women will be punished for aborting early even though it's not their fault they got pregnant to begin with. It should be left up to her to decide. It is not the states place, nor the federal governments place to tell her what she can do with her body.
Abortion is healthcare. There is no place for government in that extremely personal and difficult decision. Criminalizing abortion will kill women, and if the life of a living human being is worth less to you than a ball of cells, your priorities are backward. If you care about the lives of children, then provide support for children and families. How about better maternity and paternity leave, funding education and providing families better access to food and healthcare instead?
I was raped 2 times. Once when I was a child that lasted for years and one time when I was 15. I don't think someone who already went through a trauma should have to be punished more.
