32 acres of publicly-held woodlands and wetlands are threatened by development! Save the 75th Street Woods before 850 trees are gone forever!

The Dupage Water Commission currently owns this piece of heavily wooded property along 75th Street (east of Ranchview and west of Gladstone).

Pulte’s “Naperville Ridge” housing development plan requires cutting down over 850 mature trees and the loss of irreplaceable natural resources. This proposed development prioritizes short-term corporate gains over the long-term sustainable health and wellbeing of our community.

The Woods are home to innumerable native plant, animal, and insect species and at least one threatened species (the Black-Billed Cuckoo). The USWFS (US Fish and Wild Life Service) lists this property as a habitat of the endangered Northern Long-eared Bat and proposed-endangered Tricolored Bat. With only 17% of our oak forests left in DuPage County, its vital we preserve them. This property shares a corner with the Greene Valley Forest Preserve. This is not an acceptable place for a housing development. We deserve to have our publicly-held woodlands and wetlands protected!

We call on local government officials and Pulte to halt plans for the Naperville Ridge project. We request environmental impact studies and endangered and threatened species reports be completed so taxpayers and residents can know the full extend of what stands to be lost by this proposed development.

Join us in standing up for our precious natural spaces. Sign this petition today and urge our community leaders to protect the 75th Street Woods from being razed by Pulte.

Subject: Please deny Naperville Ridge, Case No. DEV-0167-2025 — preserve the 75th Street woods

Dear Mayor Wehrli and Members of the City Council,

As a [Naperville resident / neighbor], I ask you to vote no to the proposed annexation and PUD for the “Naperville Ridge” development on 75th Street (Case No. DEV-0167-2025).

This is 32 acres of publicly owned oak forest and is home to the state-threatened Black-Billed Cuckoo, endangered Northern Long-eared Bat, and proposed-endangered Tricolored Bat. The plan proposes to destroy roughly 1,000 or more mature trees and would affect multiple sensitive wetlands. Only 17% of DuPage County’s original oak forest still stands. We need to protect our precious natural resources.

I urge you to (1) deny the annexation and PUD; (2) work with the Forest Preserve to preserve this land; and (3) require a full and complete environmental assessment of tree and wetland data before considering any development, including this one.

Thank you for protecting our [environment, sensitive species, woodlands and wetlands].
