The Issue

Westview DECA means the world to me. Being a part of it has not only enriched my high school experience but has also set the foundation for my future endeavors. Unfortunately, Westview DECA has been disbanded, leaving a void not only in my life but in the lives of many students who share my passion for business and entrepreneurship.

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. It offers essential skills that help students like me to succeed in life and understand the real-world business environment. It provides education, career pathways, and leadership development that are invaluable. Westview DECA has done this for numerous students, fostering a community of innovation and learning.

The removal of Westview DECA deprives students of the chance to excel and pursue their interests in a structured, supportive environment. According to the National Association of Secondary School Principals, participation in school activities can lead to higher academic performance, improved self-esteem, and better preparedness for college and careers. It is vital for students to have opportunities to explore their interests and talents.

I urge the school administration to consider the impact that disbanding Westview DECA has on the student body. Bringing back the program will allow students to continue developing their skills and pursuing their interests in business and entrepreneurship. Reinstating Westview DECA would not only restore an important outlet for student growth but also reinforce the school’s commitment to providing diverse educational opportunities.

Please join me in urging the Westview School Administration to reinstate the DECA program. By signing this petition, we can show them how much value Westview DECA brings to students and the school as a whole. Let’s come together to ensure that current and future students can benefit from everything that DECA has to offer. Sign and share this petition to make a difference.
