Save our Car Park, Save the Elleray Hall Site, Stop Over-Development

The Issue

SAVE OUR CAR PARK

  • The council plan to demolish Elleray Hall and replace it with a housing estate. They are also introducing residents’ only parking on the streets surrounding Broad Street.
  • They have proposed a new site for Elleray Hall. The North Lane East car park. Its closure will drastically reduce parking for Broad St. business customers AND residents’ visitors alike.
  • Stop the council closing North Lane East car park and help save our high street; our unique shops, cafes and local businesses.

SAVE THE ELLERAY HALL SITE

  • The council want to knock down Elleray Hall and build an expensive Community Centre on busy North Lane.
  • Elleray Hall has provided an invaluable day centre for elderly residents on a quiet side road for 45 years. Its much- loved location is safe and ideal. Furthermore, this location is larger than North Lane East, and could  provide far more community facilities than the council’s unpopular proposals .
  • Rebuilding on the CURRENT location is the best, most cost effective and obvious option for council tax-payers.

STOP OVER-DEVELOPMENT

  • The council want planning permission for a high density housing development on the Elleray Hall site.
  • The development is completely unsuitable for a site with highly limited access. The increase in residents will bring additional visitors, deliveries, removal vans etc causing major traffic congestion in the local area.
  • Cramming so many single bedroom flats into the site is shameless overdevelopment. Help preserve Teddington’s unique character and peace.
