Epileptic power supply has been a serious impediment to the progress of Nigeria across all fronts. 

The Electricity Distribution Companies across the country were privatized a few years back, but the epileptic power supply has persisted.

This is because, the genesis of the problem lies in the generation of electricity rather than in the distribution.

The DISCO's simply don't receive enough power from the Generating Companies that they can distribute to everyone.

All these culminates in the subsidization of electricity tariff for the populace who don't get value for their money. This ensures that the DISCO's can barely operate at a profit also.

This is the major reason for the recent increase in the electricity tariff which does not come along with improved power supply.

The privatization of electricity in Nigeria is of utmost importance at this point, as it would open up other generation sources (Wind, Solar, Nuclear etc) and also ensure that power can be generated in smaller units across various jurisdictions.

It will also ensure that there is no need for electricity subsidy as the populace will get value for their money and the private generation & distribution companies will be able to make profit. 

It's a win win for everyone.
