Whitechapel's new album musically is great. Good songwriting and progression for the band, but some of that is overshadowed by the guitar tone of the album. They've fallen victim to the Fractal Axe-FX/Kemper generic, digital, boring sound. The drums sound crisp and nice, becuase they were recorded at Audiohammer. The guitars were recorded using digital amps as seen in the studio videos. For what could be one of the most important records of their career, I feel it deserves the justice of being recorded with raw, real, tube amps. The band has used Mesa's and EVH's in the past and I hope they'd consider these again. I wouldn't want to see them conform to the boring, modern metal trend of modeling amps.
