There is a crisis occurring in Africa and even here at home. Children are dying of hunger, and starving for an education. The World and America must respond. These children desperately need access to food and water to survive. While they can to be healed by food, they can also be inspired by knowledge. Educational programs must be supported to end this cycle of hunger, poverty, and violence.

No matter where you fall along the political spectrum one thing unites us. We love our children, our families, and our country. But even bigger than that America has always been a leader when it comes to protecting liberty, inspiring change, and reaching out to help around the world. These traits represent the core values of our country. They are a part of the fabric that holds our American family together despite our differences.

It has been said that education is the “armament of peace.” Access to a daily meal provides the needed nourishment for a child to grow. But, providing an opportunity to learn and to gain knowledge gives a child the ability to build their mind, pick themselves up, and create their own change.

Ask Bono, where is our LiveAid2 concert to Feed the Bodies and the Minds of Children around the World? Where is our “We are the World” anthem? Hold this concert of hope before 9-11-2012. By focusing the world’s attention on this crisis the efforts to end the cycle of hunger, poverty, and violence will grow stronger. These are the types of steps that walk us together down the path of real change.

Ultimately we are all one family, one earth, with one choice. Choose Hope!

Mahatma Gandhi once said “We must become the change we want to see in the world.” Please defend the rights of children around the world and here in America to be free of hunger and to have an education that prepares them for the challenges that we all face as a world community.
